Frequently Questioned Questions

  1. QUESTION:
I Need of Knee Injury Diagnosis?
A few hours ago, I was struck on the inside of my left knee during a contact sports game by the knee of another player who was running full speed toward me. I did not hear any distinctive popping noises but went down to the ground immediately and was not able to bend/go my leg because of intense pain. Within fifteen minutes, the pain had begun to fall it and within 20-25 minutes I was able to lightly walk on it. I am trying not to place too much pressure on the left leg because of pain that occurs to the right (inside) of my kneecap. I can extend and bend the leg, but I cannot straighten/bend the knee all the way because of a feeling of “pressure” when it approaches either extreme. Just sitting in a chair with my leg slightly bent and resting on the ground, I can feel a affront sort of pressure and some pain/discomfort on the inside side of the knee. If I press about an inch to the right (inside) of the middle of my kneecap I can feel a soreness/pain. There is no swelling/bruising as of yet, but I have been icing it.

Can anyone give me a likely diagnosis for this injury? Best answer will be chosen, most likely one that clarifies why you make such a diagnosis. Thanks for the help.

    • ANSWER:
I experienced a similar issue a couple years ago. I had impacted my tibial plateau inside the knee, but it originally looked like a meniscal tear. Really you need to get this checked out by a doctor if pain persists for more than a week. If it is a meniscal tear it might seem like nothing but the loose cartilage could just sit there for a while before it starts interfering and causing severe pain.
Like I said though, if pain persists more than a week, see a physician because it could be something as severe as a torn meniscus broken bone in the knee.

  2. QUESTION:
    Sports Medicine diagnosis question…?
“You are watching a baseball game and your shortstop receives a drive ball that hits his anterior thigh. He collapses to the dirt. Then, he jumps up and limps into the dugout. You note spasm and extreme pain in the area. After sitting during the exam he cannot stand up.”
Anyone know what injury this is?? I’m thinking contusion but I’m not sure.

  3. QUESTION:
What kind of Injury has to do with your Shins or Calves?
Everytime i do some running or corporal activities involving running i get pains in my leg. I did a bit of research on it and i reckon i might have bursitus or shin splints but i havnt pin pointed my self-diagnosis.
The pain is usullually in linking my shin bones. The meat linking my shins becomes very tender and sometimes its so terrible that i cant even walk. Nothing seems to help and i like doing my running and sports but with this infliction coming everytime i try to be active, it really suppresses my corporal activities. What do you reckon it is?

    • ANSWER:
sounds like shin splints, i’ve had it before ((not fun))
The connective sheath emotionally involved to the muscles and bone of the lower leg become irritated, ensuing in a razor-sharp pain in the lower leg along the inside of the tibia or shin bone. Shin splints can be felt anywhere from just below the knee down to the ankle. The pain may diminish after warming up but then income a few minutes after the completion of a workout.
      Treatment in summary:

      · Anti-inflammatory medications.
      · Heat treatments former to practice.
      · Tapping the arch.
      · Proper shoes.
      · Stretching
      · Running on soft even surfaces.
      · Ice treatments after practice.
