Family and loved ones are important in anyone’s life. Safety of every member of the family is the number one concerned in daily activities. In any situation, every member must know what the steps to be taken and procedures when emergency strikes.

Preparedness and awareness are important and should be instilled to everyone. A checklist may help. Kids must also be oriented with emergency preparedness awareness.

Importance of First Aid Kit.
Every home must have a first aid kit. Even if you are working, you should keep one to your car and your workplace. You will never know what will happen to you. From simple cut to burn, the kit must have urgent treatment for these. The kit must contain: bandages, cotton swabs and wool, gauze, scissors, antiseptic fluids or ointment, latex gloves, tweezers, thermometer, CPR mouth piece, antihistamine cream and telephone numbers list for emergency.

Keep your children aware.
It is important to teach your children sample emergency situations. They must be taught what to specifically do, step by step, when certain emergency situations occur. Children must be taught also how to use the telephone, where to call for emergencies as well as the fire exits in the house. Teach them a password or key words, so that in case of emergency they’d know who they will trust with your permission.

Electricity testing.
Sometimes the cause of fire is due to electrical faults. Power, electrical linings and fuse boxes should be checked regularly. Should there are faulty, these should be fixed as soon as possible. When leaving the house, make sure you unplug all appliances to avoid cause of fire.

Do you know how to get your family prepared for an emergency? Do you know where to obtain information that is of vital consequence to your families survival?

One of the first things one should do is to contact entities such as the American Red Cross and any other offices in your area to get educated as to the type of natural and/or man made disasters that can possibly occur in your area of the country. Ask for any and all printed material that you can obtain to educate yourself. Educate yourself as to what if any warning systems are in place in your town and what is it that you need to do when those warning signal go off? What are you supposed to do with your family pets if you have any? Where are they supposed to go if anywhere? There is a distinct possibility that animals may not be allowed in emergency shelters for the health concerns of others! What if there are elderly in your household? How are you going to care for and transport them if an emergency occurs? Do you have ample medicines and supplies for them? Again call the school district in your area to find out what emergency preparedness plan of action they have. Find out if your workplace has an Emergency Action Plan in place. All of these things will help to make you more prepared and capable of timely reaction in the event of a crisis.

Armed with the knowledge obtained from the American Red Cross and other emergency related departments contacted in your area it is going to be time to put an emergency disaster plan together. Sit down with your family and explain why this meeting is being held. Inform them of the need to know about what kind of natural and man made disasters can put your family into a crisis situation. Write out a plan on paper and delegate certain responsibilities to each member of your family unit. Be a team! Explain the particular crisis that can occur and what to do in each case. I know it seems simple but make sure that everyone knows every other members phone numbers and the address in which you reside. If you have a friend or family member that is from out of state contact them and ask if you can use them as an out of state contact for your family in cases of emergency. Discuss evacuation options with your family and choose one that fits your families needs. Make sure your family can operate as a smooth working informed and well trained unit is tantamount to being prepared for any crisis situation or emergency that can occur. Be prepared!

Emergency Preparedness Basic Checklist

Do you have a basic emergency/crisis to do checklist? If you don’t it is time to get together with your family and make one and make sure your entire family unit memorizes it and utilizes it in times of emergency.

1. Make sure that all emergency numbers are posted/located near your phones. (fire dept., police dept., ambulance/hospital)

2. Everyone in the house should know when and how to contact 911 for help with a crisis situation.

3. Teach everyone in the household the location and how to turn of the power and gas, water and all main switches to the house.

4. Review your insurance policies with your agent. Make sure that you have proper coverages.

5. Have enough fire extinguishers in the house and make sure everyone knows how to use them.

6. Make sure that there are enough smoke detectors in the home and that the batteries are good.

7. Inspect your home and look for anything that could be considered a hazard and correct it.

8. Make sure that you have ample emergency supplies and an emergency preparedness kit.

9. A good idea for the entire family and something that can be done together is an American Red Cross first aid/CPR course.

10. Make sure that everyone in the house knows the best routes of escape from the house.

11. For every kind of emergency or disaster make sure that everyone in the house knows the safest places in the home for each type of emergency situation.

This time we present a game that you are sure to try – if you care. Youda games welcome you at the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, namely its Emergency Response Unit, where doctors, engineers and volunteers work together to help victims of natural disasters, military conflicts etc.

You will save lives while having fun – and part of all proceeds of the game will be donated to the real Red Cross.

Ever dreamt of traveling all over the world? Grab the chance!

I am sure you have heard about the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Movement exists to help people all over the world who found themselves in need. Red Cross always acts according to the seven fundamental principles, which are Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntarity, Unity and Universality. You, as the member of Red Cross Emergency Response Unit, will also learn to use the principles in your life.

The ERU completes its missions in the hottest spots of the world, traveling wherever their help is needed most urgently. You will control the whole operation of the unit, managing the resources and staff and saving people’s lives.

Before you start the game you have to choose your difficulty level – I suggest Easy for the first time, because there will be quite a lot of things to deal with. For each mission in one of 11 high-resolution maps you have a limited amount of time to complete it (watch the clock in the bottom of the screen), a limited number of vehicles, teams and supplies and a number of tasks to fulfill. There are main tasks, like giving medical aid to sick people, shelter to homeless or relief supplies to those deprived of them, and extra tasks like clearing debris or establishing contacts with local authorities. Completing main tasks is critical for passing the mission, while extra tasks just give you additional points and may be left unattended.

Once you start a mission, for example, helping victims of an earthquake in Argentina, your first action will be building your base camp, where all your supplies will be stored. After that you can send your first team to the spot where it is needed most desperately. For this you have some vehicles with limited capacity, so you have to control the available transport and supplies necessary to reach success.

Gamemile.com is a resource for casual game news and reviews. Each day we release a game review and focus on the best titles for such computer platforms as WindowsPC, Mac, Palm, PocketPC.

Our mission is to provide our visitors with accurate information on top quality shareware and online games lately released to the market as well as keep them informed of the latest trends and events in the casual gaming world. Our N1 target is to provide the comprehensive information to our customers rather than just advertise games (game play basics, feature set, tips and tricks). Most of the tasks can be performed automatically, that is you just make the decisions about where to send whom and what actions to undertake. But in some cases your manual control is required, like when you deliver relief supplies with a plane or when your teams encounter some obstacles, which will sometimes multiple and unexpected. Actually, mostly you act as a real manager, but sometimes your driving or communication skills will be handy.I could go in much more detail, but I think you have already grabbed the main idea – ERU is not just fun (though fun it is), but also a great way to help others. Are you up to it?
